Into the Fold- Camberwell Press

rtaImage.jpgYesterday saw the beginning of this year’s Into the Fold, organised by Camberwell Press. Into the Fold is a project which is comprised of a series of workshops, live events and lectures which play into an exhibition and a publication. I think upcoming the Wave your Flag workshop looks great.

In their own words “This year Into the Fold will bring together a diverse range of emerging and established creative practitioners and thinkers from the world of art and design. These practitioners have worked and developed projects in collaboration with Camberwell Press in the past. The first three weeks of the project will consist of a series of lectures, workshops and events—open to all—to generate material and formulate an exhibition. This series of activities will explore and question ideas around the terms re-work, re-visit and re-imagine. The participants will re-enact a previously performed event and re-contextualise it for this year’s Into the Fold. The results of this series of events will be exhibited in a setting specifically created by artists Lea Collet & Marios Stamatis for the upper floor of Camberwell Space Projects and become the content for a response in the form of a publication.”

HIFEST Hastings illustration festival

Screen Shot 2014-11-29 at 22.52.48

Even before I visited Hastings for the first time last month I had heard about the flourishing illustration community living and working in the town. The Hastings illustration festival- HIFEST promises to showcase the local talent as well as exhibiting internationally renown illustrators from further afield and with plenty to see, watch, hear and buy it looks to be a super day by the sea. And if you are visiting Hastings for the festival I highly recommend a trip on one of the two funicular railways.

What: Stalls, talks, workshops, live drawing, screenings, and students GIF projects celebrating illustration. There are a huge variety of briliant guest illustrators from across the UK taking part in the live drawing. Workshop highlights include ‘Let’s make a collage booklet’ with collage extraordinaires Martin O’Neill & Paul Burgess and Christmas card making with the witty wonder Gemma Correll. Talks include Lawrence Zeegan discussing his brilliant new book ’50 years of illustration’ and panel discussion ‘Illustration online’ where “top illustrators will discuss how they have used social media platforms to develop personal projects, build audiences, gain the attention of clients and create highly successful careers in the world of illustration.”

Mutiplied 2012

12–15 October at Christies, 85 Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3LD

Multiplied is a brilliant showcase of Printmaking work from a wide variety of people and places. They have really interesting workshops, including brilliant Print Gocco workshop with Xtina Lamb. I went to the workshop last year and learnt how to screen print with Print Gocco, it’s brilliant value for money.

Exhibition at London Print Studio

In partnership with London Design Festival 2012 Reincarnation will be an exhibition, event and series of demonstrations on the recycling of idea, styles, materials and processes in graphic art.

For this exhibition we are looking for artists and designers who breathe new life into old styles, and creatively employ discarded materials and processes.

Whether fun, innovative, imaginative or poignant, recycling plays an ever-increasing role in contemporary life and design. It is a means to reference the past, a strategy for ecological responsibility, an escape from digital ubiquity and a way to make ends meet.

To apply please send an artists statement about your work, how it fits the theme of reincarnation and up to 5 images to apply@londonprintstudio.org.uk by Monday 6th August 2012 at 5pm.
